The Blenkiron family have been caring for the bereaved for generations, originally as joiners and undertakers in the Yorkshire Dales town of Reeth, before John Blenkiron Snr – following in his grandfather and father’s footsteps – founded John Blenkiron and Sons Ltd in 1968.
Bringing all the skills and experience of a lifetime in the business, the Richmond and Barnard Castle-based Funeral Director has now been looking after local people in their time of need for more than 45 years.
In the 1980’s John Snr expanded the business with the acquisition of two well-respected Teesdale family funeral directing firms, Thomas Lee and Sons and Edwin Wilkinson and Son. Soon afterwards he was joined by his two sons, James and John, continuing the family involvement and expertise in the company. Both are members of the British Institute of Funeral Directors.
Blenkirons has continued to grow over the years and is now one of the foremost independent Funeral Directors in the region and the natural choice for residents of North Yorkshire and County Durham.
For four generations, the Blenkiron family have been caring for people in Yorkshire and County Durham in their time of need. John Blenkiron and Sons Ltd is now one of the leading independent, family-run Funeral Directors in the region offering unparalleled care, knowledge and reliability.
We are proud to be members of the National Association of Funeral Directors, the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors, the British Institute of Embalmers and the Guild of Master Craftsmen.
